In this session, you’ll learn how to begin building your Large Poppins Bag—a roomy, stylish, and highly functional tote perfect for travel, retreats, or everyday use. We’ll cover cutting, fusing stabilizers, shaping the body, and preparing the lining. You’ll gain hands-on experience with structure-building techniques that will set you up for success.

• Installing bag stays for structure

• Constructing the bag base and lining

• Topstitching for a professional finish

???? Large Poppins Bag Class – Part 2: Assembly & Finishing

Now that your bag body is prepared, we’ll move on to final assembly! You’ll attach the bag frame, add secure handles, and learn tips for binding edges cleanly. By the end of this class, you’ll leave with a fully finished Large Poppins Bag ready to show off.

Skills Focused On:

• Inserting the wire frame for structure

• Attaching straps and hardware

• Finishing edges neatly

• Final shaping and pressing for polish

Fabric & Stabilizers

• 1 yard main fabric (outside of bag)

• 1 yard lining fabric (inside of bag)

• 1 yard fusible interfacing (medium weight, such as Pellon SF101)

• 1 yard fusible foam stabilizer (such as Bosal In-R-Form or Soft & Stable)

Hardware & Notions

• 1 set of Large Poppins Bag Stays (metal frame)

• 1 zipper, 30" or longer (handbag zipper recommended)

• 1 set of bag handles/straps (can be fabric or pre-made)

• Coordinating thread

• Wonder Clips or binder clips

• Marking tool

• Walking foot (highly recommended)

• Size 90/14 needle (for sewing through layers)

Tools

• Rotary cutter & mat

•  Ruler

• Scissors (fabric & thread snips)

• Iron & pressing surface (We have an ironing area set up in the class room)
